Eye Exams in Syracuse, Liverpool & Oneida, NY

The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends a yearly eye exam for most people. Since serving patients throughout the Oneida, Liverpool and Syracuse NY area, screenings for cataractglaucoma, macular degeneration and other common eye problems is important in maintaining good eyesight for the rest of your life. Dr. Cecchi performs eyeglasses checks and can make further suggestions and referral based on your immediate vision needs.

Why are Eye Exams Important?

Eye exams are a crucial component of maintaining healthy vision throughout your life. Regardless or not of your risk of losing your sight, eye exams can diagnose eye conditions and treatments before noticing them. Some eye conditions and diseases like glaucoma don’t show any noticeable symptoms or signs until irreversible damage has been done to your eyes. Beyond checking your eyes for conditions and diseases progressing without your knowledge, eye exams can tell you whether or not it’s time for eyeglasses, as well as provide recommendations on how to keep your vision sharp and healthy!

How Often Should I Have an Eye Exam?

It’s recommended that adults have their eyes checked once a year, as your vision can change due to aging, medication, or other factors. However, the older you get, the more you’ll need to check in on your vision as you begin to develop a more significant risk for developing conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, or age-related macular degeneration. Those who do not wear glasses or contact lenses are not exempt from having to have their eyes checked as well, as the health of your eye differs from the health of your vision. It’s crucial to make sure you have comprehensive eye exams every one to two years to make sure your eyes and vision are in tip-top shape.
